Is the Red iPod coming?
Monday January 30, 2006. MacWorld has also commented on the possible introduction of a red iPod as part of Product Red. They coment is to help fight, not only AIDS, but aslo TB and Marlaria in Africa. They'll aim to get some of the biggest companies to offer Product Red-branded goods. These companies will get some good PR and a share of the profits and the Product Red will get some much needed cash. Whether or not Bono has managed to persuade Apple to launch a red iPod is anybody's guess.

Further news has come out that the report of an overheard conversation was released in the Popbitch newsletter.

Friday 27th January, 2006 According to T3 Magazine Bono was overheard in a restaurant in Dublin that there were due to be a range of charity products to be launched such as a red Amex card and a red iPod.

The red products are thought to be offered to raise funds for the global fight against HIV. It is a possibility that 40 percent of the profits received from the sale of these red iPods would go to the Global Fund to Fight Aids.

Thursday 26th January, 2006. BBC reports on the launch of Product Red and mentions the launch partners, American Express, Gap, Converse and Giorgio Armani.

Bono mentioned that 6,500 Africans are dying of HIV/Aids everyday.
